ABOUT US
Making Miracles Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats from shelters across Michigan. Based in Utica, Michigan, we operate as a no-kill, foster-based rescue. Although we don’t have a physical facility, we rely on compassionate foster families who open their homes to pets in need until they find their forever homes.
The rescue covers all veterinary bills and provides food, treats, and toys, while our fosters provide a loving home, basic training, and care. Together, we’re giving animals a second chance at life.
Founded in the 1980's, Making Miracles Animal Rescue began as Sanilac Scoopers. Over the years, we’ve expanded and now operate as Sanilac Scoopers dba (doing business as) Making Miracles Animal Rescue.
Our Mission & Goals
Our primary mission is to save as many dogs and cats as possible, regardless of breed or age. We firmly believe that senior pets deserve just as much love and care as puppies and kittens—and we’re passionate about finding loving homes for them all.
We’re also committed to promoting responsible pet ownership by encouraging spaying and neutering to prevent unwanted litters and reduce the number of animals in need of rescue.
100% Volunteer-Run
Making Miracles Animal Rescue is entirely volunteer-based, with no paid staff. Every member of our team dedicates their time and energy to helping animals, often balancing rescue work with jobs and family commitments. While we strive to respond to all adoption applications promptly, we ask for your patience if it takes a little longer.
Meet Our Animals
If you’re interested in adopting, the best way to start is by filling out an application. Once submitted, the foster family will contact you to arrange a time to meet the animal.
You can also visit one of our adoption events to meet available pets. Please note that not all animals will attend every event, so if you’re hoping to meet a specific dog or cat, email us ahead of time to confirm their attendance.
