ChewyHi! My name is Chewy. I'm a happy, handsome, confident little guy about 7-8 years old, cute as a button. I don't know what my life was like before this, but my rescuers said it had to be beyond horrible. When I was rescued, my hair was so over grown you couldn't see my face and my legs are stiff, and crooked from the matting. So now I walk like a duck (a handsome duck) and have a little difficulty seeing. My coat was so out of control, that 3 pounds of fur was shaved off. The shelter didn't think I would survive. Well here I am. I'm looking for a special forever home, one with extra TLC and patience to help compensate for the years without any. I ignore other dogs and cats. I don't like crates or much interference. I like to lay near you, but I've never been cuddled or played with, but I would like to learn. I want you to help me live my life to the fullest.Chewy has a serious heart murmur that could shorten his life. We at the rescue would like to see him find a forever home as quickly as possible so that in the event his life is cut short, he will have had some time as some one's pampered, precious pet. Something he should have had from the beginning of his life. We find he is quite the character and will bring as much joy and laughter to your life as you will bring to his. ********************************************************************************** We show some of our adoptable dogs at PetSmart, Utica, each Saturday between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm. Cats typically don't do well at events, so they only attend with a pre-approved meet and greet appointment. If you are interested in a particular pet, we suggest you email: mmarpaws@gmail.com to see if that pet will be there.
Applications are approved on the basis of the best and most appropriate home for the animal, not on a first come, first served basis. On site adoption available to pre-approved applicants only.
Adoption fees go towards vaccines, heartworm prevention/testing, flea/tick prevention, spay/neuter and other medical problems that may arise.
MMAR is an all volunteer, foster based, 501 (c) 3, non profit organization. Without your donation, wonderful pets like these have to be passed by because we cannot afford their care.
