Hi, my name is Matey and I am from Rome, Ga. I was on my last day when I was pulled by a volunteer for Last Day Dog Rescue and brought to her home in Michigan.
I have been neutered and am fully vetted and micro chipped. I have been in my foster home for 6 months now and thought I was going to stay, but after I got comfortable there I decided I wanted to be the dominant Male dog in the household.
I am not dog aggressive, and would probably get along with a female dog, but I would really prefer to be the only dog in the family so I can get all of the attention.
This doesn't mean I can't go for walks or be around other dogs when I am on a leash, I won't go after them, but if I live with them, I will want to be the top dog, which would cause a problem. I can sit, stay, wait, walk well on a leash, am house broken, and crate trained(go to your room). I know what "Front Door"means and "Back Door".and I love to go for car rides. I respond to "Come" well when called. I take treats gently and sit and wait when my food is placed in front of me until my foster says "OK", then I eat.
If she wants to take the food away from me, I have no problem with that as I know I will be given enough to eat when she is ready. I also know I will get two meals every day, so food is not an issue. I really love treats, though, so I learn things very quickly.
I would do well with a person who is a runner, or likes to play fetch. No dog parks though, please, as the temptation to be dominant would be too great there, especially when toys are involved. I do play nicely with my little buddy who is a male yorkiepo and weighs 11 pounds and also with a female 12 pound chihuahua. I guess I don't see them as a threat to my dominance. I weigh 55 pounds and would do better with children 10 years old and above as I might knock smaller children down by accident.
Once I am bonded to you, I will want to spend as much time with you as possible, so please make me part of your family. My foster mom loves me, but already has five dogs and four of them are males, so I cannot stay here permanently.
If you are interested in meeting me, please contact my foster mom, Tereasa Michalak at 810-614-7827 or email at tereasamichalak@gmail.com Oh, and please fill out an application on line for me.....
